Chika Iijima is a live visualist active in New York expanded cinema community and VJ scene. Her work is about formal exploration and reflection. Her videos tend to implement geometric minimalist patterns and original graphics in unique, repetitive combinations. Chika was born and raised in Japan and moved to New York in the early 1990s working as a graphic designer until she began her experiments in time-based media. She is a member of Share, a weekly open multimedia jam & community for portable performers. She has performed at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Mapping Festival in Geneva, Mutek in Montreal, the Bushwick Art Project, Darmstadt: classics of the avant garde, Eyewash, a VJ series and many other experimental events.
