  It was in his honor, that he created the mask and began his quest towards destroying Parliament. He, as Fawkes did, refused to allow his nation to be led by such politicians, and knew they had to be destroyed, or at least reminded, that "The people should not fear their government.. The government should fear their people."

  Byyyy the way, Jess.. Guy Fawkes isn't who V was in the past. Guy Fawkes was a rebel who was caught, and banend from the history books and basically erased, hence the Fifth of Novemeber. He attempted to blow up Parliament, on the 5th of November, and the politicians didn't want anyone remembering, to attempt it again. What V did, was created a Guy Fawkes mask, to hide his face and who he was, and to make people remember Fawkes.
